Patterson Brothers Automotive was started in 2007, but our automotive service roots run deeper than that.

Patterson Brothers Automotive is operated by Bill Patterson. Bill started working on cars with his dad and fortified his hobby when he took an automotive shop class in high school. After serving four years in the United States Marine Corps, Bill began working on industrial equipment and eventually moved on to be a mechanic for an Indy car racing team. In 2002, Bill began working on passenger cars, which eventually led him to start Patterson Brothers Automotive with his brother, Jared.

Check the other 8 spark plugs for tightness. Recommend replacing cylinder 5 spark plug and coil. Will need to install a spark plug thread repair kit in the cylinder head at the number 5 cylinder.
  • Inspected vehicle for additional needed repairs and services. Found vehicle is due for engine oil and filter change. Engine air filter is dirty and needs to be replaced.
  • Installed spark plug repair kit in cylinder head at cylinder 5 location. Installed new spark plug and ignition coil. Test drove vehicle and verified repair.

  • Inspected vehicle and scanned systems for code. Found fault code P0128 – thermostat rationality. Monitored cooling system operation. Coolant is flowing through system at all times even when engine is cold. Thermostat i stuck open or missing. recommend replacing cooling system thermostat.
  • Inspected exterior lights and found left tail light bulb is burnt out. Replaced left tail light bulb. Upon inspection found left front axle seal leaking, both side upper and lower ball joints have excessive movement, steering stabilizer is leaking and tie rod ends have excessive movement. Engine oil cooler is leaking engine oil in intake valley. Rear differential is due to be service.
  • Replaced thermostat / housing assembly. Refilled cooling system to the proper level. Brought engine up to the operating temperature and verified cooling system operation. Cleared fault codes and test drove vehicle. No fault codes returned.

  • Inspected vehicle and verified customers concern. Pressure test vehicles cooling system and found water pump leaking engine coolant. Radiator hoses are brittle and serpentine drive belt is dry cracking. Recommend replacing water pump, thermostat, radiator hoses and serpentine belt. Upon inspection found vehicle is due for engine oil and filter to be changed. Air filter is dirty. Front disc brake pads have 4mm and rear disc brake pads 3mm remaining. Will need brakes in the near future. Left front strut assembly is leaking. Recommend replacing front struts and realign vehicle.
  • Replaced water pump, thermostat and serpentine belt.
  • Replaced upper and lower radiator hoses. Refilled system with coolant. Verified water pump leak is repaired and no other cooling system leaks present at this time. Test drove vehicle and verified cooling system operation.
  • Lubricate and check chassis. Change oil and oil filter. Check air filter and breather filter. Check all fluid levels and tire pressures. Preform basic safety inspection.

Right rear shock absorber is leaking. Recommend replacing rear shock absorbers. On test drive, vehicle has a slight pull to the right and some uneven tire wear. Recommend a 4 wheel alignment. Left rear brake light and license plate bulbs are burnt out. Replaced burnt out bulbs.

  • Inspected vehicle and found where engine oil filter had been leaking. Oil filter is tight and no other oil leaks found at this time. Upon inspection found air filter needs to be replaced. Steering rack & pinion is leaking. Left front CV axle boot is torn and grease has come out. Recommend replacing left cv axle assembly, steering rack & pinion and realigning vehicle.
  • Inspected brake system. Found right front disc brake pads are metal to metal with disc brake rotors. Recommend replacing front disc brake pads and rotors.
  • Lubricate and check chassis. Change oil and oil filter. Check air filter and breather filter. Check all fluid levels and tire pressures. Preform basic safety inspection.
  • Replaced left front cv axle. test drove vehicle and verified repair.
  • Replaced power steering rack & pinion assembly. bleed air from power steering system. test drove vehicle and verified repair.
  • Performed front thrust angle wheel alignment. Adjusted suspension and steering angles as needed to meet manufacture specifications. Test drove vehicle and verified alignment.
  • Replaced front disc brake pads and rotors. Test drove vehicle and verified repair.

  • Inspected vehicle and scanned vehicle systems for fault codes. Found fault codes P1417 – cylinder 7 reactivation control performance, P1414 – cylinder 4 reactivation control performance, P0175 – fuel system rich bank 1 & bank 2 and P0300 – multiple cylinder misfire. Found 3 fuel injectors unpluged. Reconnected fuel injectors and exhaust started to clear up. Cleared fault codes and test drove vehicle. All fault codes came back immediately on test drive. Pulled spark plug from cylinder 1. Spark plug is fouled. Recommend start with pulling intake manifold and deactivation solenoids to test solenoid operation.
  • Removed intake manifold and deactivation solenoids. Solenoids all passed test and have the correct ohms of resistance. Found intake manifold had oil and gas mixture in it. While cleaning oil and gas mixture from intake manifold found pieces of metal falling out of intake. Inspected the inside of intake manifold. Intake has pieces of metal through out is. Vehicle will need the engine assembly replaced.
