Patterson Brothers Automotive was started in 2007, but our automotive service roots run deeper than that.

Patterson Brothers Automotive is operated by Bill Patterson. Bill started working on cars with his dad and fortified his hobby when he took an automotive shop class in high school. After serving four years in the United States Marine Corps, Bill began working on industrial equipment and eventually moved on to be a mechanic for an Indy car racing team. In 2002, Bill began working on passenger cars, which eventually led him to start Patterson Brothers Automotive with his brother, Jared.

  • Did not find valve cover gaskets leaking. Engine oil is leaking from damaged timing cover and upper oil pan.
  • Inspected vehicle and scanned for fault codes. Found fault codes P0016 – Crank angle incorrect and P0128 – thermostat threshold below operating temperature. Recommend start with replacing harmonic balancer and timing cover then test drive vehicle to see if any fault codes return.
  • Inspected vehicle and verified customer concern. Found harmonic balancer has made contact with timing cover and upper oil pan. The harmonic balancer is coming apart and is rotating at an angle. Recommend to start with replacing harmonic balancer, serpentine belt, timing cover and upper oil pan. There may be more repairs needed once timing components are inspected once timing cover is removed.

Also replace thermostat due to engine getting hot. Found fitting on air intake tube broken off that goes from intake tube to valve cover. Will need to replace air intake tube.

  • Front disc brake pads have 60% remaining. Disc brake rotors are rusted and are making noise when braking. Noise may go away as rust in removed by braking as vehicle is driven. Air filter is dirty and needs to be replaced. Vehicle is due fore engine oil and filter change. Front struts are being to leak and will need to be replaced in the future. Will recheck condition of front struts on need service.
  • Inspected vehicle and verified customer concern. Found both battery cables loose. Cleaned and tightened battery cables. Verified power to dash. Vehicle loses all power when ignition is moved to the crank / on position. Found power to dash returns when main harness is moved. Inspected main harness for broken or damaged wire to ignition. found damaged wire to ignition switch. Repaired wiring and retested system. Vehicle now starts and runs as designed.
  • Lubricate and check chassis. Change oil and oil filter. Check air filter and breather filter. Check all fluid levels and tire pressures. Preform basic safety inspection.

  • Test drove and inspected vehicle. Verified customer concern. Scanned vehicle systems for codes. No codes are present at this time. Found spark plugs over gaped and worn. Found signs of coil on plug boots breaking down and causing arch through boots. Air filter is dirty. Throttle body and intake have carbon build up. Recommend replacing spark plugs, coil boots, air filter and performing air intake and fuel system service.

  • Inspected vehicle and confirmed customer concern. High beams are work a this time. No problem found with high beams. Inspected fuse and verified headlight fuses are good. Verified power and ground were present at headlight bulb. Moved connector and low beams will flicker on. Inspected headlight bulb connectors and found connector is melted and burned. Replaced both low beam headlight connectors and replaced both low beam headlight bulbs. All lights working as designed. Vehicle is due for engine oil and filter change.
  • Lubricate and check chassis. Change oil and oil filter. Check air filter and breather filter. Check all fluid levels and tire pressures. Preform basic safety inspection.

  • Clean A/C Condensor
  • Evacuated refrigerant from air conditioning system. Replaced air conditioning compressor, accumulator and manifold lines. Verified system would hold vacuum. refilled air conditioning system with proper level of refrigerant. Cleaned bugs and debris from air conditioning condensor. Test drove vehicle and verified air conditioning system operation.
  • Inspected vehicle and verified customer concern. Scanned HVAC system and found fault cod P1274 – A/C control circuit 2 open. Checked air conditioning refrigerant level. Refrigerant above max level. Preformed pinpoint test for power and ground. Both power and ground are present. Toggled air conditioning compressor on and off with scan tool. Air conditioning command system operating as designed. Air conditioning compressor clutch not engaging. Air conditioning compressor has internal damage. Pulley is still spinning free at this time. Pulley could lock up and cause further damage. Recommend replacing air conditioning compressor wit kit including accumulator and lines to satisfy warranty requirements.
